Religion

I write about religion as a social phenomenon sometimes, as anthropologist Tanya Luhrmann does in the New York Times.  As a Christian, I sometimes write on theological questions, but it’s mostly to try to frame the question in a useful way.  I’m not that big on the kinds of answers that can be transferred from one thinker to another.  I write on biblical questions quite a bit because it is a way to redeem the dreadful biblical education I got as a child–heavy on the heat and scant on the light.  On the other hand, as I get older, I appreciate some of that heat.
